Photos from Clean Streets LA Challenge #1 Sat Oct 15 2016

The Clean Streets LA Challenge began this past Saturday October 15th at two locations in West LA. Set up through the West LA Sawtelle Neighborhood Council (WLASNC), with cooperation by a small team from the LA Conservation Corps, and some great neighbors. We began at the area around Los Angeles Fire Department Station 59 and were also joined by firefighters. We raked leaves and litter and filled tons of bags. We then moved on to the area near Extra Space Storage on Olympic Blvd and Barry Ave which was loaded with litter. It's all gone.

The day began at 8:30am and ended at 11:30am. We worked at our own pace and participated as much as we could. While working, we talked and forged new neighborhood friendships. Before we knew it, 11:30am came by and we filled over 40 bags! The areas were noticeably cleaner and shows how a team can accomplish a lot in a little time.

The coolest part? The firefighters made us lunch!

Will you join us for any of the next few weekends?
