The West LA "Old Vons" site at Santa Monica Blvd and Barrington Avenue (11660-11674 Santa Monica Boulevard) is on its way to change the look of West LA. The WLASNC in our monthly Board meeting voted in favor of the project which will turn the large site into an apartment complex with 180 units including low income, and a Whole Foods Market on the ground floor, all dubbed, "NOW." The architecture is admittedly inspired by Gaudi as evidenced in the imagery and plans (see the link below for the 23 page document), and the five story building is shaped like a butterfly or X from above. The only pedestrian entrance will be on Santa Monica Blvd with a loading area for deliveries on Barry and a parking entrance on Barrington avenue. The parking will be subterranean for both the apartments and the market.

A presentation was given by the United El Segundo, Inc and the Landry Design Group.

The project was met with suggestions from our WLASNC PLUM Committee before it came to the Board. (To see the suggestions, please access the document at our Public Dropbox folder. See the October Meeting Folder.

The Motion to approve the project as proposed by the developer went as follows: 12 NC members. 9 yes; 2 no; 1 abstain.

We thank all of the attendees.
