Throw Back Tuesday: LA Times Maps West LA or Sawtelle. What Do You Think We're Called?

In 2009, the LA Times mapped Los Angeles and when it came to "our" district, they reported interesting data, however they named the entire District Sawtelle. There is historical basis to the name, yet the popular and contemporary name seems to be simply West LA, which also encompasses a much larger area. Our own Neighborhood Council's name does include Sawtelle to distinguish itself from the neighboring Councils including "Westside."

What are your thoughts? Did you grow up with Sawtelle as the name of the entire area?
