SAT, NOV 4, Nora Sterry Elementary School Campus Beautification And Garden Planting

For those who missed it, we had a successful turnout for yesterday's Nora Sterry clean-up.
90 Volunteers - 152 Trash bags

PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE SAT, NOV 18, UNI HIGH CLEAN-UP, 8:00 am to 12 Noon.

Meet in the upper parking lot at Texas and Barrington. Wear comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes, and sunscreen. We will provide the gloves and tools.

We are aiming for 100+ volunteers! Please e-mail your RSVP to: RMKATO@WLANC.COM.

Coffee was provided by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (Olympic Blvd.) and Starbucks Coffee (Pontius/SM Blvd.).

Bagels and cream cheese were from Bagelworks Cafe.

Fresh fruit and assorted mini-muffins/pastries, juice boxes, orange juice and water were provided by the Nora Sterry Booster Club.

WLASNC handed out water, volunteer t-shirts and volunteer promotional cards for promotions at participating local businesses. (Businesses are being added daily.)

Owner Janis Toya of Sakura Restaurant4545 So. Centinela in Culver City–an alum of both Nora Sterry and Uni High–donated two $25 gift certificates. No one won in the drawing held at Nora Sterry, so the certificate will be rolled over to the Uni High event for a drawing of two $25 gift certificates.

Helados La Michoacana provided delicious paletas for all to enjoy. Helados will provide paletas for the upcoming Uni High event.

OSH sent a team of staff volunteers who assisted with prepping garden beds for future plants and setting up two raised garden beds with some vegetable plants and seeds.

Our House volunteer Ginnean Shaw also donated and planted lavender plants.

It was decided a second drawing for the $25 Sakura Restaurant gift certificate will be held in which Nora Sterry Elementary School Booster Club President Levana Leyva will draw the name of a lucky volunteer from the Nora Sterry Elementary School campus beautification of Saturday, November 4.

This ensures one lucky volunteer from the Nora Sterry Elementary School event and one from University High School event.
