According to NC Board Member Jay Handal, a lease has been signed at 11419 Santa Monica Blvd (at the former Ethan Allen Furniture site) since August and this will allegedly be a "holding center" to house inebriated individuals for many areas adjacent to our West LA district.

From his posting on Nextdoor, Handal says, "This is the same use that both Culver City and Venice rejected. This center, under the guise of a philanthropic institution, is nothing more than a good old fashioned "Drunk Tank", a place where first responders (LAPD and LAFD) take people that are too drunk to arrest but not sober enough to be out on the street, and brings them to this center to dry out, and then get released into our community."

This is all breaking news and we'll post more information soon. This topic will be on our Board's Agenda for our September meeting next Wednesday.
