The Department of Neighborhood Empowerment is excited to announce the IgniteLA 2.0: Elections Workshop, where women will discover their leadership styles, practice strengths-based planning, and develop their public speaking and campaigning skills just in time for 2019 Neighborhood Council Elections

Through a grassroots network of 99 Neighborhood Councils, EmpowerLA promotes civic engagement and improves government responsiveness to local needs. Each Neighborhood Council consists of volunteer stakeholders who meet on a regular basis to discuss local issues, support neighborhood projects, and serve as a resource for the community. 

Who?

Female candidates for 2019 Neighborhood Council Elections. 

What?

IgniteLA 2.0 is a non-partisan program whose mission is to empower every woman interested in public service with the political and practical skills she needs to successfully run for Neighborhood Council Boards in 2019 Elections. 

When?

Saturday afternoons from 1-3pm from January through March 2018, with one final workshop on a Monday evening from 7-9pm on March 11th. 

Where?

Workshops service each Neighborhood Council region of the City of Los Angeles:

  • January 12th at New Economics for Women (NEW) at 303 Loma Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90017

  • January 19th at the Marvin Braude Building at 6262 Van Nuys Blvd, Van Nuys CA 91401

  • February 2nd at the Mission Hills Police Station at 11121 Sepulveda Blvd, Mission Hills CA 91345

  • February 16th at a location TBD in West Los Angeles

  • March 2nd at the San Pedro Municipal Building at 638 S. Beacon Street, Room #452, San Pedro CA 90731

  • March 9th at a location TBD in South Los Angeles 

  • With the final workshop on Monday, March 11th, from 7-9 pm at City Hall, 200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles 90012
