THE BACKYARD HOMES PROJECT: An Affordable Housing Initiative  

The Backyard Homes Project is an affordable accessory dwelling unit (ADU) pilot program geared towards City of LA homeowners. LA-Más and our collective of respected non-profit partners - Genesis LA, Self-Help Federal Credit Union, Restore Neighborhoods LA (RNLA), LA Family Housing, St. Joseph Center, and Housing Rights Center - are pleased to be behind this new incentive program for homeowners!  

We will support homeowners in building an ADU in exchange for renting their unit out to a Section 8 voucher holder for a minimum of 5 years. We will provide a one-stop-shop for financing, design, and construction that is competitive, remarkable, and affordable. A simple program flyer for homeowners is attached, along with a more detailed one pager for wonks like us who want more details., For those interested in applying, the detailed program booklet explains how our program would work and what would be expected from the applicant.
