JAPANESE PAPER FILMS
Sunday, April 13 📽 “Japanese Paper Films”
In the 1930s, amid mounting competition from foreign cartoons, Japan’s animation industry began searching for cheaper and faster modes of production. Enter “kami firumu,” or paper films. These short films, both animated and live-action, were printed onto paper strips and glued together by hand.
This Sunday, we welcome Bucknell University Prof. Eric Faden, project lead of the Japanese Paper Film Project @kamifirumu, for a rare screening of digitized kami firumu with live musical accompaniment!
Sunday, April 13, 7 p.m.
Free admission! Details in bio.
